Improving the clinical trial journey with technology and systems integration


Over the last two decades, the clinical trial landscape has rapidly evolved towards more decentralization and increased use of advanced technology. Remote solutions and technology are ubiquitous in the clinical trials arena, whether for data collection, e.g. with eCOA and eCRF development, or for remote clinical services, such as telemedicine, remote medical examination, or treatment delivery at home.

Although these technologies are implemented to improve patient comfort and data quality, they also lead to a potential extra burden for clinical trial stakeholders. Today, a site may use up to 15 different systems in parallel to manage their clinical trials. The same is true for sponsors, who use a multitude of systems to monitor trials and analyze data. Additionally, patients increasingly have to deal with multiple interfaces and a range of digital tools to perform procedures that are required by the protocol.
